Students can practise producing written content based on the current theme ''life in the house and neighbourhood with types of houses, rooms, furniture and activities in the house''.
Revision 2 · Revision 2
Your e-pal, Emily, sent you this message:
"Hi! What is your favourite room in your house? What is in it, and what do you usually do there?"
Write a reply to Emily (40–50 words). Write about your favourite room, the furniture in it, what you usually do there and why you like it.
Your family moved to a new house last week. Write an email to your friend Deniz and invite Deniz to your new house.
In your email:
- write the type of house;
- describe at least three rooms and some furniture in them;
- write what your family members are doing right now;
- invite Deniz (day and time) and use one social expression, for example Home sweet home! or Make yourself at home!
Write the email (70–90 words).
Your school magazine asks: "Which is better for a family: a flat or a detached house?"
| A flat in a block of flats | A detached house |
|---|---|
| often near shops, schools and public transport | usually has a garden |
| sometimes has a lift | usually has more rooms |
| usually no garden | quiet; no neighbours upstairs or downstairs |
| neighbours can be noisy | sometimes far from the city centre |
| less cleaning and fewer repairs | more cleaning and more repairs |
Before you write, make a plan. Write short notes: your opinion, two reasons for your opinion and one good point about the other type of home.
Write a paragraph (100–120 words) for the school magazine. Follow your plan. Use words for houses, rooms and activities in the house.
